In the 21st century, its even more important to appreciate the style of old. The more things change, the more they stay the same, right? I’d like to think that regardless of your age, economic status and fitness level, there are certain timeless. Let’s investigate.
CUFFLINKS
Instant refinement, just as sunglasses create instant “cool”. It is a timeless, classic accessory that every man, at every age should have. The je ne sais quoi of accessories; superfluous fashion that makes a huge impact. A shirt looks more polished with metal on the cuffs. Many regard cufflinks as too serious but I just see them as baller. Whether you are looking for standard ‘links or true bespoke, there is something for everyone who looks. A truly versatile accessory that completes a look whether for work or play.
THE SOLID TIMEPIECE
This is more of an investment, yes. In a world where peoples’ phones became a watch replacement and smart watches are gaining in popularity, a timepiece stands out. It shows a man has discerning taste and attention to detail. Trends fall on deaf ears, when you see something classic on his wrist. This is the one accessory where men will invest in the 5 and 6 figures. Rolex, IWC, Breitling, Longines, Patek…brands made famous for their timeless style and mechanics. For many, the watch is the punctuation mark of style – it changes with mood and activity. I know some men who have 10 watches – ranging in price, material and style, some that invest in a great diver watch and those that want a rugged, military style, that can withstand any abuse. The best thing about a timepiece? You can wear it with anything and your are neither overdressed or under dressed. You just have great taste. Before I forget, there are also speciality strap companies if you aren’t looking to start a collection but like to vary your horology style.

OLFACTORY BLISS – FRAGRANCE
While not a tangible accessory, the fragrance is key to completing a man’s mark. Urbane is a quality just not complete without a gentleman’s mark, with none other than his scent. Whether it is aftershave or cologne, nothing says sex like a man’s scent. Olfactory bliss. It is sexy to snuggle up to a face that subtly transports you somewhere exotic and instantly warms you. However, less is more when it comes to the application but that is not always obvious or followed. It is not meant for your genitals nor does a woman ever want to be smelling heavily-perfumed balls. I would also argue that price here also matters. I can smell a cheap scent. Choose wisely. This is definitely an online venture. Go to a place like Le Labo, where they will personally mix a scent for you. Le Labo is my favorite company for all things fragrance related.

MONEY CLIP
Cash will always be king. We can debate this fact as cryptocurrency trends, but don’t underestimate the power of the clip, which dates back to 1931. It’s time to desert the bulky, unsexy wallet for the streamlined, leaner money clip often used by old-school gents. Clips are diverse in material and function, many are even RFID-blocking and able to hold a large number of paper bills. Though the design may look overly simplistic and insecure, the streamlined function, allows you have to carry your currency virtually incognito.
