Am I the only one who thinks the skinny jean trend is completely overblown and ridiculous? I’d like to think that the hipster movement wouldn’t be a movement if it were for facial hair and jeans that make you look like you came from Munchkinland.
DISPLAY OF MASCULINITY.
What is attractive to me about a man’s dress sense is his display of masculinity. It is how he positions it through his clothing and accessories. Does he wear a timepiece on his wrist? A bespoke suit? Is he more casual and relaxed? A nice ring-spun, combed cotton t-shirt with jeans not too tight or baggy? Perhaps choosing a sport coat and button-down with no tie? He may be a peacock, daring enough to wear a waistcoat, another evolving hipster trend. I agree that there are no written rules for what makes a man masculine, but I do believe a man’s personality shines through his wardrobe. It is creating
COMMON DRESS SENSE.
I believe that fashion trends are taken hold by the very thing they are trying to create: a common dress sense. My opinion is that the skinny jean is a trend that makes little sense. While the tailoring of the skinny jean looks great on women, a man’s physique is built differently, often making a guy look like he has chicken legs, regardless of his age.
Let men dress like men.
Amen.
